1938 - Wolverhampton Wanderers met Arsenal at Layer Road in front of 18,000 for the Colchester Challenge Cup. The match was part of the deal that saw Reg Smith move to Wolves, then a First Division side, for £250. Arsenal were there as part of the deal that took Cliff Fairchild to Highbury. Wolves won 1-0.
